Nellie Global Award

Terms and Conditions

What is the Nellie Global Award?

The Nellie Global Award is in honor of former player, coach, and Brewers broadcaster Davey “Nellie” Nelson. Davey was a dedicated Board member, supporter, and contributor to Open Arms Home for Children in South Africa, an organization benefitting children orphaned by AIDS. To keep Davey’s mission alive, the Brewers will recognize an individual in the community who has made a global contribution that impacted others in an extraordinary way.

Who can be nominated for the Nellie Global Award?

A nominee for the Nellie Global Award must be an individual resident of Wisconsin who, like Davey, has made a significant and meaningful contribution to a cause, program, or other effort that has impacted the lives of other people around in the world in extraordinary ways. The Brewers will review all nominations and select one individual to receive the Nellie Global Award.

Who can nominate an individual for the Nellie Global Award?

Any U.S. resident (including D.C.) who is eighteen (18) years of age or older (except in the case of legal residents of certain states where the legal age is greater than eighteen (18) years of age, such legal age of majority) can nominate a qualifying Wisconsin resident 18 years of age or older for the Nellie Global Award. Self-nominations by Wisconsin residents are permitted in accordance with these guidelines.

How do I nominate someone for the Nellie Global Award?

Nominations for the Nellie Global Award can be made by completing a nomination form online at brewers.com/Nellie. All nominations must be received by June 11, 2021.

How will the Nellie Global Award recipient be honored?

The recipient of the Nellie Global Award will be recognized on Brewers social media feeds on June 20, 2021, which is Davey’s birthday. The recipient will also receive a Nellie award. All award details, including, without limitation, the exact nature and duration of social-media acknowledgment, shall be determined in the sole and absolute discretion of the Milwaukee Brewers and subject to availability.

What else should I know?

The Brewers retain sole and absolute discretion with regard to the evaluation of nominees and the selection of the award recipient for the Nellie Global Award. If nominee does not respond accepting the award within 72 hours of a communication from the Brewers notifying the prospective award recipient, the Brewers may select a different award recipient in the Brewers’ sole and absolute discretion. The Brewers may contact nominators or nominees using information provided on the nomination form, for purposes of evaluating nominees. All decisions made by the Brewers in connection with the Nellie Global Award are final, and no correspondence will be entered into relating to these decisions. The Brewers reserve the right to require potential award recipient to complete certain documentation, such as a certificate of eligibility, liability release, publicity release (except where prohibited by law), photo/image waiver and release, and authorization for background check, as a condition of potential selection for receipt of the Nellie Global Award.
