Houston Astros Season Updates

The Astros are excited to welcome fans back to Minute Maid Park for the 2021 season. As you make your decision to come to a game, please take into consideration these guidelines.

Health and Safety Protocols

The Basics

Masks

Masks are not required for fans who have been fully vaccinated*. Fans who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to continue to wear masks.

*Full vaccination is defined as having received a final vaccination dose at least two weeks prior to game date (i.e., second dose of Pfizer/Moderna or single dose of Johnson & Johnson).

Social Distancing

Fans will be encouraged to maintain social distancing during entry and around the concourses. Certain sections of the ballpark are reserved for social distanced seating. In those areas, social distancing is required also.

Stay Home if You’re Feeling Sick

People who have tested positive for, or displayed any signs or symptoms of, COVID-19 in the past 14 days, have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the past 14 days, or are at high risk of contracting the virus must stay home.

Wash and Sanitize Your Hands

Wash your hands frequently and utilize the hand sanitizer stations located throughout the stadium.

Protect the Team

Player autographs will not be allowed inside MMP. Please do not congregate near the dugout or field and refrain from sitting in someone else’s seat.

Protect the Fans

To protect the fans, thorough cleaning and disinfecting measures using CDC approved cleaning supplies and disinfecting protocols will be used throughout the season.

Entry Protocol

Entering MMP

On game days, all entrances to MMP will be available for fans to use beginning two (2) hours prior to First Pitch. Please note that only half of the walkthrough metal detectors will be used to account for social distancing. Please plan accordingly.

Leave Your Cash at Home

MMP is going cashless! Cash will not be accepted inside the stadium or at Astros-owned parking lots. To account for this, four reverse ATMs will be placed near the existing ATMs on the main concourse (2), club level (1), and upper concourse (1).

Leave Your Large Bag at Home

For everyone’s safety, bags exceeding 16” x 16” x 8” and backpacks are not permitted inside Minute Maid Park. All bags will be searched upon entry. See full Bag Policy for details.

Outside Food and Drinks

Fans can bring in one (1) clear, plastic one-gallon sized bag with outside food and one (1) factory-sealed clear plastic water bottle, no larger than one liter.

FAQs

What capacity will you have in 2021?

Beginning June 15th, Minute Maid Park will be open to full capacity.

Do the Astros have city approval to host fans?

Yes, all stadium policies and procedures are in line with all current federal, state, and local guidelines.

Are other Houston teams hosting fans?

The Astros will be the final professional sports team in Houston to host fans. The Houston Rockets, Houston Texans and Houston Dynamo all have hosted fans in the last 12 months.

Will the roof be open more often for safety concerns?

The Minute Maid Park roof will be open or closed based on weather concerns. The stadium’s air conditioning system cools outside air, rather than recirculating air from inside the stadium. For this reason, the Astros can operate the roof as we would for a standard season.

Will seats next to the field be sold?

Select seats adjacent to the field will be sold, although there will be a buffer zone between ticketed seats and the player dugouts and bullpens. Plexiglass may be in place around the dugouts, bullpen or other select locations.

Are these the guidelines for the entire 2021 season?

No, we reserve the right to update the guidelines throughout the season based on recommendations from local and league health and safety officials.
