Angels Front Office Executives

In May of 2003, Arte and Carole Moreno were introduced as the third owners in Angels' franchise history and their impact was immediate. The Morenos have guided the franchise to six A.L. West Division titles and 17 consecutive seasons drawing over three million fans, resulting in a total home attendance of over 52 million fans. In July of 2018, Arte received the distinct honor of being elected to the Board of Directors for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY.

The Moreno's focus is balanced between baseball, business operations, and fan experience. In 2009, the Halos were voted the top franchise in professional sports in “Fan Value and Experience” in a fan poll by ESPN the Magazine. In the poll, the Angels ranked in the top three among Major League teams for 10 consecutive seasons (2003-2012).

During their tenure, Arte and Carole’s support of the baseball operations department has resulted in the acquisition of many key players, including three-time N.L. MVP Albert Pujols, perennial MVP candidate Anthony Rendon, nine-time Gold Glover Torii Hunter, 2009 World Series MVP Hideki Matsui, 2005 A.L. Cy Young Award winner Bartolo Colon, newly-elected Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero, four-time Gold Glove winner Andrelton Simmons and several others. In 2019, the Morenos signed three-time A.L. MVP Mike Trout to a record setting 12-year contract extension effectively keeping the eight-time All-Star a member of the Halos for the remainder of his historic career. Additionally, in December of 2017, the Morenos oversaw the successful recruitment of two-way player Shohei Ohtani, the offseason’s most highly sought-after free agent.

Since purchasing the Club on May 22, 2003, the Angels have logged a 1444-1266 record (.533 winning pct.) while boasting a Top 10 payroll in 15 of their 18 seasons, including six campaigns in the Top 5. During the family’s tenure, the organization has continued to cultivate players from its farm system. Their dedication has paid dividends in the development of significant current players such as Trout, David Fletcher, Griffin Canning, Justin Anderson, Keynan Middleton, and Cam Bedrosian with prospects Jo Adell and Brandon Marsh on the Major League horizon.

Over the past 17 years, Carole and Arte have strengthened the Club’s commitment to local communities and beyond. In 2004, the Morenos established the Angels Baseball Foundation concentrating on investments in education, health care, arts & sciences and community-related youth programs to experience the positive attributes of baseball. The Foundation distributes annual grants to various youth programs within Southern California. The Angels Scholars program works with the Orange County Office of Education and the college preparatory AVID program to award several annual college scholarships. Since purchasing the Club in 2003, the Morenos, Angels, and Angels Baseball Foundation have contributed over $20 million to various charitable efforts with a primary focus in the Orange County area.

In 2010, the Angels were privileged to host their third All-Star Game (also 1967 & 1989). In conjunction with MLB’s All-Star Legacy Fund, the foundation funded renovation of softball fields at Anaheim’s Pioneer Park (into the MLB Angels All-Star Complex) as well as the special-surfaced field for the Miracle League of Orange County for disabled youth. The Foundation regularly donates tickets, memorabilia, and ballpark experiences to the various groups and fundraisers.

In addition to their responsibilities with the Angels and various committees within MLB, the Morenos were part of ownership of the former Single-A Salt Lake Trappers of the Pioneer League. Under their leadership, the Trappers won three championships. Arte and Carole were also original investors in the Arizona Diamondbacks (including their 2001 World Series championship) and in a partnered ownership of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns.

The Moreno family is also active in their own philanthropic efforts. In 1997, they established the Moreno Family Foundation to support nonprofit organizations focusing on youth and education as well as investing in educational scholarships in K-8, high school, and college. Their favorite charities include St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary’s Food Bank, the Barrow Neurological Institute, Boys & Girls Clubs, UMOM Homeless Shelters, American Heart Association, and Fresh Start Women’s Foundation. The Morenos were previously members of the Little League Foundation’s Board of Trustees, which assists Little Leagues in every state and more than 70 other countries. For her continued philanthropic efforts, Carole Moreno was honored by the Girl Scouts of Orange County as their 2019 G.I.R.L. (Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader) honoree.

Carole was born in Reno, NV, and moved often as the daughter of a career Air Force man. She spent much of her youth in Fredonia, KS, and went on to earn a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. Arte is a native of Tucson, AZ, and served his country in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army. After his tour of duty, he attended the University of Arizona, graduating with a degree in marketing. In 2005, Time Magazine selected Moreno as one of the ‘25 Most Influential Hispanics in America.’ Arte and Carole are the parents of three children.

Dennis Kuhl begins his 17th season with the Angels after joining the Club on November 10, 2003. He was initially appointed as the Angels’ seventh President before a promotion to Chairman on November 14, 2009. Kuhl’s focus centers on renewed efforts in the area of civic affairs and community outreach. Kuhl also oversees the Angels’ flagship radio station KLAA AM830 and was recently named the President of the Angels Baseball Foundation.

Under his leadership, the Angels have shown tremendous growth and advancement in key business initiatives, including sponsorship and marketing revenues, as well as nationwide expansion and promotion of the Angels' brand. Kuhl also played a key role in working with Major League Baseball in hosting of the 2010 All-Star Game.

Kuhl is actively involved in several Southern California charities. He serves as president of the “Light the Night” event which supports the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and is a founding board member of The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation/Lott Trophy. Kuhl works with Susan G. Komen for the Cure serving as one of the “Pink Tie Guys,” a select group of advocates speaking out to find a cure for breast cancer. Additionally, he serves on the advisory boards for the South County Outreach, Anaheim YMCA, Rivals For The Cure, Irvine Public School Foundation, and the Angels Baseball Foundation Board of Directors.

A champion of community involvement, Kuhl’s efforts span across Orange County and beyond. He is a member of the Board of Governors at Chapman University and on the board of directors for several nonprofits: The Children’s Education Foundation of Orange County, the Los Angeles Sports Council, Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim, The Tiger Woods Foundation, the Noble Vikings Charity of Orange County, the Literacy Project Foundation, and the Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County & Newport Beach.

In 2014, Kuhl served as a co-chairperson for the United Cerebral Palsy Golf Classic and a co-chairperson for the annual Red, White & Greens Golf Tournament to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

A Boonton, NJ native, Kuhl graduated from the University of Arizona in 1970 with a degree in business administration. In honor of his late father, he established the Bud Kuhl Wood Bat Invitational in 2007 with annual proceeds donated to local charities. Kuhl also initiated scholarships in his father's name to the Eller School of Management at the University of Arizona. In 2009, he was named the “Business Man of the Year” by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce. Kuhl currently resides in Newport Beach.

John Carpino was named the eighth president in Angels' history November 14, 2009. He oversees all areas of business, sales, marketing, finance, and communications. Carpino’s top priority is fan value and experience in all areas of the game including concessions, merchandise, promotions, and ticketing. As the principal executive in charge of business operations, he has helped welcome over three million fans through Angel Stadium turnstiles for 17 straight seasons. He was also an integral part of Angel Stadium hosting the 2010 MLB All-Star Game, a key member in the Club’s negotiations to keep the Angels in the City of Anaheim through 2050, and was involved in the negotiations for the extension of the Club’s television agreement with FOX Sports West. ESPN The Magazine rated the Angels as the #1 MLB franchise in nine of Carpino’s first 11 years with the organization.

The Chicago native continues to create value for fans, focusing not only on the game inside the lines, but on the entire ballpark experience. He has guided the Angel brand with a focus on affordable pricing while providing a quality family environment, including continual stadium improvements and enhancements. Under his leadership, Carpino’s staff has established Angel Stadium as one of the premiere destinations in California for non-baseball events such as concerts, Supercross, Monster Jam, and corporate events.

As one of the initial executives appointed by Owner Arte Moreno after purchasing the Club, the 2020 season marks Carpino’s 17th with the team, having previously held the post of Senior Vice President. Carpino has led the Angels to unprecedented financial growth in sponsorship, marketing, and ticketing. He oversaw the general manager selection processes in 2011 & 2015 and has assisted in the acquisition of high-profile players such as Albert Pujols, Anthony Rendon, Andrelton Simmons, and Shohei Ohtani, as well as the historic 12-year contract extension for three-time MVP Mike Trout.

He has created a stronger, more viable partnership with Los Angeles-based radio and television partners, and oversees KLAA AM830, the radio flagship of the Angels. His vision and creativity have brought an emphasis on the Angels’ heritage with a reintroduction of the Club's Hall of Fame with yearly inductees, hosting of fan events, and celebration of team history. Popular giveaways have included several world record-breaking items and those showcasing the popularity of the Rally Monkey. His efforts continue to create a brand that connects socially and in sync with current cultural trends.

Carpino’s promotion followed six seasons as the Angels Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing during which he oversaw all aspects of marketing, promotions, and ticket sales. He began his professional career in 1982 in the billboard industry, including stints in Tucson, Chicago, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. In 1985, he joined Moreno at Outdoor Systems, a billboard company (which later became Viacom Outdoor in 2000 and CBS Outdoor in 2005) and spent 18 years in the Phoenix and Los Angeles markets. Carpino oversaw $200 million in sales for the western region.

Carpino is a 1982 graduate of the University of Arizona with a degree in business administration. He has served on CHOC Children’s Foundation Board of Directors as well as the Executive Board for the Orange County United Way. In 2017, he was inducted into the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame.

He and wife, Elizabeth, are involved in numerous charitable efforts throughout Southern California and support the Angels Baseball Foundation. John and Elizabeth have three children and reside in Laguna Beach.

Perry Minasian became the 13th General Manager in franchise history on Nov. 12, 2020 when he agreed to a four-year pact through the 2024 season. In his current role, Minasian oversees all aspects of the Club's baseball operations efforts.

Minasian, 40, joined the Angels after a three-year stint (2018-2020) with the Atlanta Braves. Over his final two seasons in Atlanta, he held the title of Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations and Assistant General Manager, where he oversaw the day-to-day responsibilities of the Baseball Operations staff. His primary focus during that time surrounded contract negotiations, pro and international scouting, and analytics. He was originally hired by Atlanta in September of 2017 as Director of Player Personnel before quickly being promoted.

Prior to his time with the Braves, Minasian spent nine seasons (2009-2017) with the Toronto Blue Jays, originally joining the organization as a Major League scout. He also served six seasons (2011-2016) as Director of Professional Scouting and was a Special Assistant to General Manager Ross Atkins in 2017.

Minasian was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Arlington, TX. He attended the University of Texas-Arlington and has been around professional baseball since his childhood, when he was a batboy for the Texas Rangers from 1988-96. He then worked as a Rangers Clubhouse Attendant from 1997-2002 and transitioned into a scouting role in 2003. Minasian served as a staff assistant to Rangers manager Buck Showalter and the Major League coaching staff from 2003-06 before becoming a Major League advance scout during the 2007-08 seasons.

Perry and his wife, Michelle, have four children, Lola, Minka, Gemma, and Cash. His father, Zack, worked in professional baseball for over 30 years, including 22 seasons as the Rangers Clubhouse Manager. His brother, Calvin, is the Clubhouse Coordinator for the Washington Nationals and brother, Zack, is the San Francisco Giants Pro Scouting Director.

Dana Wells joined the Angels in late 2019 as Executive Vice President, a role which focuses on all aspects of the Club’s business efforts including business development, ticket sales, and special projects.

Wells brings with him a successful track record of over 27 years of sales experience in the outdoor billboard industry. Starting in 1992 as an Account Executive with Outdoor System, he quickly grew through the ranks making stops as the Sales Manager and General Manager of the Kentucky, Florida, and New York markets. Following an impressive tenure in New York, he was promoted to National Sales Director in which he managed not only the company’s national sales efforts, but also the day-to-day business operations of the New York market.

As the company’s ownerships changed hands over the years, Wells continued to climb the corporate ladder. In 2003, under the Infinity and Viacom ownership groups, Wells moved back to Atlanta where he was named Vice President of the South East region. In 2007, the Phoenix native was promoted to President of the Outdoor Division for CBS Outdoor, a position he held until 2013.

CBS Outdoor would go on to take their billboard division public in 2014, where Wells would play a key role in the company’s transition. The newly formed Outfront Media would name Wells their Executive Vice President of National Sales and Western Region, a title he held until joining the Angels this winter.

A former NFL player for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Arizona Cardinals, Wells was Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year his senior year at the University of Arizona and is a two-time Morris Trophy Defensive Lineman of the Year, an award that is selected by the opposing players annually for the best offensive and defensive linemen in the conference. Wells has won this prestigious award twice, making him one of three to ever win the award multiple times.

Wells and his fiancé, Susie, reside in Newport Beach.

Molly Jolly became the highest ranking woman in the Angels organization in just her third year with the team (2003) and remains an integral part of the primary operations of the Club. She is in her 20th season with the Angels as Senior Vice President, Finance & Administration. Molly spent three years (2001-03) as Director of Finance for the Angels and Anaheim Ducks before her current appointment.

A native of Naples, Florida, Molly oversees all financial matters, including strategic initiatives, reporting and planning, budgeting, accounting, and payroll. She is also responsible for office administration, including legal and risk management, human resources, and information services. Additionally, she oversees financial operations at Angel Stadium for non-baseball events such as Supercross, Monster Jam, and concerts.

Before joining the Angels and Ducks in 2001, Molly spent 11 years working for the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), including six years (1989-94) at ARCO Alaska in Anchorage, serving as an Inventory Accountant, Financial Analyst, and Electronic Commerce Manager. In 1994, Molly was transferred to ARCO Corporate in Los Angeles where she worked as an Internal Control Advisor and Project Manager. She was promoted in 1996 to Financial Manager and Strategic Planning Senior Consultant for the ARCO Products Company. Molly began her career in 1988 as an auditor for Arthur Anderson LLP in Boston, MA.

A 1988 graduate of Holy Cross with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics/Accounting, Molly graduated from the Anderson School at UCLA with a master's degree in Business Administration in 1999. Molly is the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Girl Scouts of Orange County and a past Board Member and Treasurer for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and Friends of CASA, as well as a sustaining member of the Junior League of Orange County. In 2016, Molly chaired the Friends of CASA Holiday Luncheon and Fashion Show and in 2011, she was nominated as “Chief Financial Officer of the Year in Orange County” by the Orange County Business Journal. She and husband, Burt, reside in Villa Park.
